Soulman is an anemone dahlia, but exhibits the habit of an heirloom chrysanthemum and decorative dahlia combo. It has deep red, crimson petals flowing like puffs of layered red velvet cake on strong sturdy stems. Little gold flecks in the center resemble it's anemone biology. Farmer Meredith invested in this dahlia variety, as she wanted a middle ground between a ball and decorative dahlia with a little flair.
A dahlia like this turns heads wrapped in bunches at farmer's market. With the flair comes a flexibility in chemical free farming, as little but bites don't seem to show up due to the habit of the bloom. Outer petals tend to arch back, giving this dahlia a little attitude and a lot of 3D dimension. Currently a great tuber producer in zone 5B in outdoor growing.
Bloom size is 3-5 inches on 3-5 ft stems.
