Why Bare Root Perennials?

THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION!

This year we are offering #1 size bare root perennials to the public. Not just because we can, but because we want to give people an opportunity to economically grow their gardens and perennial landscapes for the greater good of the environment. Greenhouse finished products are often priced based on the value of growing out plants to full maturity. Why that is beneficial in some cases, it doesn't help with filling a full space with economically sourced plants that are also environmentally beneficial. In the past I often felt restricted on growing our own perennial landscapes due to the sticker shock presented by the commercial industry, including big box stores.
.
This is where this special offering comes in clutch. These plants are initially field grown in Holland for one year to make them perfect size for either planting directly into your landscape or finishing in a pot to either sell or give away to friends and family. You can also combine several roots to start a larger plant.
.
A majority of the plants come in bags of 25, giving the flexibility of planting a full landscape rather than be limited on pricing options. The value per plant in these lot sizes sometimes is the same price of finished greenhouse products. There's less waste used, no plastic pots, no soil and no greenhouse utilities. The economics knocks out a great price, in turn allowing you to purchase several different varieties to give your planned space a fighting change when acclimating to your growing zone.
.

Why use bare root perennials for your home garden, flower farm  or pollinator plot?

  • Bare roots will make a bigger, stronger plant in a shorter amount of time.
  • Many are drought tolerant and suited towards survival.
  • Our Bare Roots are verified quality products, true to name and proven to perform.
  • They are stored and shipped dormant, which allows various shipment dates to different growing zones across the USA.
  • Often Bare Roots can tolerate lower temperatures after planting than many greenhouse-produced plugs or pots. This directly correlates with a higher success rate overall.
