Sky-blue standards rise above paler, ruffled falls with dark blue beards, giving Iris Blue Trill a cool layered look in late spring and early summer. Sweet fragrance, sturdy branched stems, and a tall upright outline make the flowers useful for sunny borders and cutting.
Set the rhizomes shallowly in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, with light shade tolerated. Water before flowering without leaving the soil wet, remove spent blooms, and divide crowded clumps after flowering. Established plants tolerate drought and resist deer browsing. The plant is toxic if eaten by people or pets; avoid contact with sap if your skin is sensitive.
