Cornel features lovely, popping cherry-red, velvety flowers contrasting beautifully with the dark green foliage. It's a dahlia Farmer Meredith can rely on, with the plant constantly throwing blooms combined with great tuber production each year. Chimacum Night is a close cousin to Cornel, but a tad smaller in form and darker in color. If you're wanting the perfect lipstick red for the fall season, this is a great dahlia both for form and tuber production.
This Dahlia is a member of the Ball Dahlias, which have fully double blooms either ball-shaped or slightly flattened. The ray florets are blunt or rounded at the tips, with margins spirally arranged and involute for at least 75% of the length of the florets. They make real eye-catchers!
