Hosta Brother Stefan forms a wide mound of thick, heavily corrugated leaves with bright gold centers and irregular deep green margins. Near-white flowers rise just above the foliage in late spring or early summer, adding another layer to the shaded display.
It grows best in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in partial or full shade and works well in borders, woodland gardens, containers, and mass plantings. Divide established clumps in early spring or late summer, and remove dead foliage at the end of the growing season. The plant is toxic if eaten by pets and horses; prevent chewing of the foliage.
