Veronicastrum virginicum Cupid is a compact selection of the accepted North American Culver's root. Stiff reddish stems carry regular whorls of narrow dark green leaves and finish in branched, candelabra-like racemes of deep lavender-blue to violet-blue flowers.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, humus-rich soil that stays moist but drains freely. Remove faded spikes or leave the stems for winter structure before cutting back in early spring. The long summer display provides nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies, moths, and other pollinators.
