Airy, branching stems lift tight maroon-red flower spikes above a clump of finely divided green to gray-blue foliage. The upright stems sway with the breeze, bringing movement and a long summer-to-early-fall display to prairie planting, borders, and cut-flower gardens.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile soil that stays moist but drains well. Space plants 40 cm apart, water regularly during the first season, and support stems where the site is very exposed. Cut old growth back in late winter or early spring.
