Golden-yellow daisies with green conical centers rise above tall clumps of Rudbeckia laciniata Herbstsonne from summer into fall. The upright stems reach about 5 to 8 feet and carry green, deeply lobed leaves, making this perennial suited to the back of a large border.

Plant it in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. The flowers provide nectar and pollen for pollinators and can be cut for arrangements. Its clumps fit cottage gardens, prairie plantings, and flowering borders.

Deadhead faded flowers throughout the blooming season. Divide established clumps in spring or fall. The species is documented as toxic to swine and sheep.
