Variegated cream-and-green leaves give Phlox paniculata Olympus color from spring, while fragrant pink-purple panicles with white centers carry the display through summer. Its upright clumps fit a mixed border, cutting garden, or large patio container, and the flowers draw butterflies and other pollinators.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Water during dry weather, mulch the root area, and leave air around the foliage. Remove faded flower heads, then cut the dry stems to the ground in late fall or winter.
