Ligularia dentata Othello is a vigorous clump-forming perennial with large rounded kidney-shaped leaves. Young foliage opens dark purple, maturing to deep green with purple overtones and matte burgundy undersides.
Dark stems carry broad corymbs of golden-yellow to orange daisy-like heads from July into September. The plant reaches about 100-120 cm high and 70-90 cm wide, adding bold foliage and pollinator value to moist borders, rain gardens, and pond edges.
Grow in rich, consistently moist acid to neutral soil in partial shade or gentle sun. Protect it from drying heat, water during dry periods, divide established clumps as needed, and remove dead foliage after frost.
