Kniphofia Ice Queen lifts tall spikes of green buds and creamy flowers above a clump of narrow, arching green leaves. The flowers pale toward creamy white as the season advances, giving this red hot poker a cool-toned summer and early-fall display.
Use it as an upright accent in a sunny border, coastal garden, or courtyard planting. Its flowers attract pollinators and can be cut for arrangements.
Grow it in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Keep the crown out of stagnant winter moisture, remove spent stems after flowering, and divide established clumps in late spring.
