Iris 'Tipped in Blue' is the accepted name for a Schafer/Sacks Siberian iris registered in 2010, with Iris sibirica 'Peacock Butterfly Tipped in Blue' recorded as a synonym. It forms an upright deciduous rhizomatous clump about 45-60 cm high and 45-60 cm wide; the AIS registration gives a 58 cm flowering height. Late-midseason flowers in May and June combine light blue-violet standards edged yellow with pale yellow falls veined and tipped blue-violet, yellow signals and gold hafts. A direct exact-cultivar profile reports 15 cm flower diameter, stored without inference from photographs. Grow in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained, acid to neutral soil. It suits borders, cut-flower gardens and pond margins that are not permanently submerged. Divide rhizomes from midsummer to early autumn and remove spent stems and dying foliage.
