Iris Silver Edge is a clump-forming deciduous Siberian iris with narrow, upright, blue-green leaves that retain an ornamental grass-like presence after flowering. Stems rise to about 60 to 100 centimetres and carry several beardless flowers. Upright rich blue standards contrast with deeper violet-blue falls, each fall finely edged in white and marked with a yellowish-white blaze near the base.

Grow it in full sun or partial shade in fertile, humus-rich soil that stays consistently moist but drains well. It adapts to clay, chalk, loam, or sandy soils across a broad pH range. Incorporate well-rotted organic matter in drier ground, mulch in spring, and continue watering after flowering so the foliage remains attractive. Divide crowded rhizomes from midsummer to early autumn.

Use Silver Edge in moist perennial borders, rain gardens, beside streams or ponds, along paths, on slopes, or in cottage and coastal plantings. Group several mature clumps for a natural display and combine them with Astilbe, Carex, Persicaria, Deschampsia, or Hemerocallis. All parts are harmful if eaten, so site the plant responsibly around people and pets.
