Hemerocallis Ruby Stella is a compact reblooming daylily with arching, strap-shaped green foliage. Upright stems carry lightly fragrant, 3-inch ruby-red to dark wine-red trumpets with slightly darker red eyes and yellow to yellow-orange throats. Mature flowering clumps reach about 16 to 20 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide.
Grow Ruby Stella in full sun or partial shade in average, fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Water thoroughly during dry weather to keep the foliage attractive. A spring application of general-purpose fertilizer and an organic mulch support established clumps. Divide in spring or fall when rejuvenation is needed.
Use this compact daylily in flowering borders, edging, containers, or ground-cover drifts. Remove withered blooms and cut finished flower stems to the base. Daylilies are toxic to cats.
