Airy white star flowers make Gillenia Trifoliata a clear choice for moist borders and naturalistic mass plantings. Loose flower clusters rise on wiry red stems above green leaves divided into three serrated leaflets. Butterflies and other pollinators visit the flowers.
Grow it in partial shade in humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. Full sun also works where the soil remains evenly moist. The clump can take time to establish, then develops red to orange fall color.
