Geranium pratense 'Striatum' is a clump-forming deciduous perennial that grows 20 to 40 inches tall and wide. Hairy stems rise above deeply lobed green foliage. Saucer-shaped white flowers carry variable violet-blue stripes, so each bloom has a different balance of white, blue, and purple.
Grow Splish Splash meadow cranesbill in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, moist but well-drained or well-drained chalk, clay, loam, or sand. It accepts acidic, neutral, or alkaline conditions. The flowers support pollinating insects, while the clump suits borders, cottage gardens, wildflower meadows, wildlife gardens, ground cover, and underplanting.
Space plants 13 inches apart. Remove flowered stems and old leaves to encourage fresh foliage and further flowers. Divide in spring, take basal cuttings in early to mid-spring, or propagate by seed. Monitor for vine weevil, geranium sawfly, slugs, snails, downy mildew, and powdery mildew.
