Echinacea purpurea White Swan carries large, single white flower heads with gently drooping rays around greenish-orange cones. The upright perennial forms a leafy clump about 60 to 90 centimeters tall and 30 to 60 centimeters wide, bringing a clean pale accent to summer borders.
Choose full sun for the strongest display, although partial shade is tolerated. Set it in well-drained chalk, loam, or sandy soil, water consistently during establishment, and avoid soggy conditions, especially in winter. A spring layer of compost is usually enough.
The flowers suit cutting gardens, prairie-style beds, and containers, while their nectar attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Deadheading can extend the display, or leave some seedheads standing so birds can feed and the cones can provide winter structure.
