Dahlia Summer Sunset is a tall dinner-plate dahlia with large, layered flowers in tangerine orange, golden yellow, and coral tones. The upright, bushy plant reaches about 3-4 feet high and flowers from midsummer into early fall, making a dramatic border accent and a long-lasting cut flower.
Grow it in full sun and fertile, moist but well-drained soil, sheltered from strong wind. Water consistently, mulch with organic matter, feed with a low-nitrogen or potassium-rich fertilizer, and deadhead to keep new flowers coming. In regions colder than USDA zone 8, lift and store the tubers after frost.
