Dahlia Playa Blanca is a compact, bushy, tuberous perennial grown for fully double White cactus flowerheads. Each flower is approximately 10 to 13 cm across and consists of numerous narrow, pointed, strongly quilled ray florets that create a crisp spiky outline while concealing the central disk. Upright clumps carry Opposite pinnately divided Green leaves and flower from July into October.
Grow in full sun in fertile, humus-rich Clay, Loam, or Sand that remains Moist but Well Drained. Pinch young shoots to encourage branching, water during dry growth periods, feed modestly after buds form, and deadhead regularly. Where winter survival is unreliable, lift and store the tubers after autumn dieback.
Propagate by spring cuttings or by dividing tubers with viable buds. Monitor for aphids, capsid bugs, caterpillars, earwigs, Red spider mite, slugs, mildew, mould, tuber rot, and virus. Dahlia species are toxic to dogs, cats, and horses and may cause mild digestive signs or dermatitis.
