Dahlia Pacific Ocean brings a compact, upright flower display to sunny borders, cottage gardens, and patio containers. Broad-rayed waterlily blooms open pale yellow and carry rosy-pink to red color along the tips and margins, held above dark green foliage on purple stems.
The bushy clumps grow about 1½ to 3 feet tall and wide, making them easy to place in a mixed border or a large pot. Flowers continue from midsummer until the first fall frost and can be cut for indoor arrangements.
Plant in fertile, humus-rich soil that stays moist but drains well. Water during dry periods, feed during active growth, and deadhead faded flowers to keep buds developing. In cold-winter gardens, lift the tubers in fall and store them protected from frost.
