Crocosmia crocosmiiflora George Davison forms a dense, upright clump of sword-like green foliage with stems of light orange-yellow flowers opening from orange buds. Its early to midsummer color works well in perennial borders and wildlife plantings, and the flowering stems are useful for cutting.

Grow the corms in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. Established clumps tolerate some drought, although very dry soil can restrict growth and flowering. Divide congested clumps in spring. In regions where montbretia spreads aggressively, contain the corms and do not allow unwanted plants to escape into natural areas.
