Coreopsis verticillata Zagreb forms a low, compact clump covered with bright golden-yellow daisies from late spring through summer. Highly branched green stems carry the flowers above finely divided dark-green leaves.
The flowers support bees and butterflies, while the tidy mound fits a border, prairie-style planting, patio container, or cut-flower garden. Rhizomes can widen the clump, especially in fertile, moist soil.
Grow it in full sun for the strongest flowering, although light partial shade is tolerated. Well-drained soil and modest feeding help the stems remain upright. Deadhead to prolong bloom, then cut the plant back in late autumn.
