Convallaria majalis Prolificans is a compact rhizomatous perennial with glossy elliptic to lance-shaped green leaves. In spring, arching stems carry densely packed white bell-shaped flowers that create an unusually full, double-looking display with a sweet fragrance. Mature clumps reach about 10 inches high and wide, making an elegant small-scale ground cover for shade.
Grow it in fertile, humus-rich, evenly moist soil in partial or full shade. Add leaf mould in autumn and divide established clumps when renewal or control is needed. It spreads by rhizomes to make a connected patch. All parts are toxic and contain cardiac glycosides, so keep the plant away from children and pets.
