Astilbe chinensis Vision in Pink is a robust, rhizomatous perennial with an upright flowering habit. A mature clump forms deeply divided dark to blue-green foliage about 40 cm high and produces strong flower stems that may reach about 80 cm, over a spread of roughly 45 to 60 cm. Numerous tiny pale to bright pink flowers open in dense, branched plumes from midsummer into early autumn. The old brown flowerheads can remain attractive after flowering and provide useful seasonal structure.
Grow Vision in Pink in partial shade or filtered light in fertile, humus-rich soil that remains evenly moist while draining freely. It can tolerate somewhat drier conditions than many Astilbe cultivars once established, but prolonged dryness reduces foliage quality and flowering. Mulch with compost or leaf mould to conserve moisture without burying the crown. Divide congested clumps before active spring growth. Remove faded plumes for neatness or retain them for autumn interest, then cut old growth back before new shoots emerge. Vine weevils, powdery mildew, and leaf scorch are occasional concerns.
