Astilbe Rheinland sends dense, deep-pink conical plumes above deeply divided mid-green foliage, giving shaded borders an early-summer flower display.
The clump-forming perennial works in woodland gardens, cottage borders, and cutting gardens. Its fragrant flowers attract bees and butterflies, while deer and rabbits generally leave it alone.
Grow it in rich soil that stays consistently moist, in partial or light shade. Add mulch to hold moisture, water before the soil dries, and cut spent stems back after flowering.
