Astilbe hybrida Spotlight forms a dense, upright clump of dark green, bronze-flushed leaves on red-brown stems. Upright panicles of faintly sweet, light pink flowers rise above the foliage in summer and attract bees and other pollinators.
Grow it in moist but well-drained or boggy soil in partial shade, or in sun only where the soil stays moist. It suits cottage borders, waterside planting, and containers, and the flower plumes can be cut for arrangements. Water during dry weather because this cultivar does not tolerate drought.
