Astilbe Hennie Graafland carries narrow light-pink plumes above a compact mound of shiny bronzed dark-green foliage, giving moist shaded borders a soft midsummer layer.
This clump-forming perennial can edge a woodland bed, fill low ground-cover plantings, or supply stems for cutting. Its lightly fragrant flowers attract pollinators, while deer and rabbits usually leave the foliage alone.
Grow it in fertile humus-rich soil that stays evenly moist and drains well. Mulch without covering the crown, feed in early spring and after flowering, and divide established clumps every few years.
