Symphyotrichum novi-belgii Jenny forms a compact clump of upright stems and narrow green leaves. Reddish-purple to deep pink semi-double flowers with yellow centers cover the mound from late summer into autumn.
Use this perennial near the front of a sunny border, in an outdoor patio container, or as flowering ground cover. Its late flowers attract bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, and short stems can be cut for seasonal arrangements.
Grow it in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Mulch with organic matter in autumn. Divide established clumps every few years and cut old stems back in late autumn.
