Golden-yellow flower clusters top the upright stems of Asclepias tuberosa Hello Yellow from early through late summer. Its narrow green leaves feed monarch caterpillars, while nectar-rich flowers attract butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other beneficial insects.

This clump-forming perennial grows in full sun and dry to medium, well-drained soil. It tolerates drought and poor soil once established, making it suitable for sunny borders, prairie plantings, meadows, and butterfly gardens. Leave its deep taproot undisturbed and deadhead spent flowers when another bloom cycle is wanted.

All plant parts can cause digestive symptoms if eaten in quantity, and the sap can irritate skin and eyes.
