Actaea rubifolia Eye Catcher is a compact woodland perennial with finely divided, aromatic gray-green foliage arranged in a neat clump.
In midsummer, airy soft-pink flower umbels rise just above the leaves and gradually fade to white. The two-tone display brings a light texture to shaded borders and supplies nectar for visiting pollinators.
Grow it in partial to full shade in cool, humus-rich soil that stays moist but drains well. It tolerates somewhat drier soil once established, needs no routine pruning, and can be divided in early spring.
