Achillea millefolium Ending Blue is a compact perennial yarrow selected for sturdy stems and broad, flattened flower heads whose pink tones mature toward a blue-lilac cast. Finely divided gray-green foliage gives the plant a soft, ferny texture before and after bloom, while the changing flowers extend its color interest from early summer into early fall.
Plant it in full sun and freely draining soil. Once established, it handles dry periods well and asks for little more than occasional deep watering. Cut faded stems back to encourage fresh bloom. Its flowers draw butterflies and other pollinators, work well for cutting, and pair naturally with lavender, coneflower, and fine-textured ornamental grasses.
Use this yarrow in a flowering border, gravel garden, meadow-style planting, or pollinator bed. Keep it away from pets and grazing animals because yarrow is toxic when eaten.
