Helenium Autumnale Bandera is the database-clean form of the patented cultivar Helenium autumnale 'Bandera' in the Asteraceae family. The original patent describes a compact, broadly Upright, uniformly Mound-forming plant with moderate vigor, dense branching, and strong flower stalks. A Penn State field trial measured a mature plant at about 50 cm high and 45 cm wide.
Green Lanceolate leaves form a Deciduous clump below numerous strong stems. The primary patent describes freely produced Daisy-like flower heads with dark Orange and dark Yellow bicolored ray florets. A dark Brown central disc creates a strong late-season contrast. Penn State independently classified the flower color as Orange. Normal flowering is documented in August, September, and October.
