Gillenia trifoliata Pink Profusionis (India Physics) an upright, airy rhizomatous perennial selected from the North American species. Deep red-purple emerging foliage matures through bronze-green to rich dark green, then turns orange and red in autumn. Dark-red branching stems carry loose panicles of many small star-shaped flowers whose narrow petals are pink and white, reading as soft pink from a distance. Plants usually reach 60–100 cm high and 60–75 cm wide. Grow in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade or gentle sun. Cut down in early winter and divide established clumps as needed.
