In Ukraine the Didukh represents a place where ancestral spirits live. During the Holidays you invite your passed relatives to enjoy the Christmas season along with you and the living. The Didukh is placed in the home in a special area. In various parts of Ukraine the Didukh is removed after the Holiday season. In some households, the Diduck is burned to give warmth and light to those passed. 

This workshop will explore specific traditions centered around creating diducks and each participant with make their own home diduck with winter greenery and dried floral elements grown at Barnswallow. 

Two hour workshop includes all materials, refreshments and festive atmosphere in The Nest, our heated greenhouse at the farm. Maximum of 12 participants for a personalized experience with flower farmer and artist, Meredith Nunnikhoven. 

This class is appropriate for the age of 12 and older. 

Persons needing ADA assistance to attend or participate in the class should contact Meredith at 612-280-8709 prior to the class date. 

 

A percentage of the workshop profits will support for aid organization for children, soldiers and animals in Ukraine. Confirmed by our local Ukrainian friends, the below organizations will be the beneficiaries. You can also access and donate to these organizations this Holiday season!

Since we are preparing and harvesting materials to order for class participants, no refunds are available. However, date or class type may be substituted if there are available spaces.
